Powers & Jurisdiction

The Civil Appellate High Court of Badulla exercises original, appellate, and revisionary powers over the District Courts and Family Courts within Uva Province.

Civil Appellate Jurisdiction

Hears and determines appeals arising from judgments, decrees, and orders of the District Courts and Family Courts in the exercise of their original jurisdiction, including leave to appeal and appeals notwithstanding lapse of time.

Revisionary Jurisdiction

Holds revisionary and writ application powers over the proceedings of the subordinate courts within the jurisdiction, alongside reviewing applications for acceleration.
